The Black

The civil war ended on the official channel, in the cadence Command keeps for funerals and treaties. Then an Armistice-Day massacre reignites it, and Delta Squad is handed a lawful suppression order that turns out to be a purge. They refuse. Refusing makes them the enemy: six soldiers, a by-the-book replicant whose glitches look a lot like conscience, and a born-digital mind learning to say “I”, fugitive in a sublight solar system, loyal to nothing but each other.

The Fracture is the opening movement of The Black, one continuous story told across four eras. These are character-forward war novels in the vein of The Forever War, Battlestar Galactica and Andor: no fleet battles, no triumph. The decisive acts here are refusals, and the cost is paid in people. Start with Ignition; the story continues in The Arrival.
